I taught for a short time and spent some years working in a financial environment before training as an analyst and therapist. I am a training analyst with the Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists where I have held various offices and been a member of council, acting presently as coordinator for their training programme. I teach and lecture here and abroad and am currently working as a supervisor in the IAAP’s training team in St. Petersburg. My private practice is situated just north of Monmouth and about half an hour’s drive south of Hereford.
I am particularly interested in the interface between psychology, literature and art. I find that developing awareness and appreciation of story and image in the inner world can enrich an individual’s exploration of unconscious material, leading sometimes back to the seeds of an individual history and sometimes forwards to the developments an inner self is struggling for… or more often in both directions at once.

I trained with the Association of Jungian Analysts and qualified in 1987 having previously studied with WPF Counselling where I gained my first psychotherapy diploma. Before I became an analyst I worked as a teacher and on the staff of the Open University and after training as a psychotherapist I joined the staff of WPF Kensington and taught and supervised both for WPF and their affiliate organizations. I am now in private practice in Hereford and in the Golden Valley , Herefordshire.
My special interest, professionally, has been in working with ethical concepts and their consequences. During the last twenty years, I have been involved in writing codes of ethics and practice, and chairing the ethics committees for AJA and UKCP 1998-2001. Previously I helped set up and chaired for seven years the disciplinary committee of BACP. I have worked to resolve complaints and grievances in a wide variety of psychotherapy and analytic organizations and lectured and run workshops on ethics in training and supervision at UKCP and IAAP [International Association of Analytical Psychology] conferences.
Most recently I have begun working with senior staff groups at London hospitals.
I also work as the liaison person to Poland for the International Association for Analytical Psychology.
My recent publications include:
- Complaints and Grievances in Psychotherapy, Routledge 1998
- Values and Ethics in the Practice of Psychotherapy and Counselling, co-edited with Lesley Murdin, Open University 2000
- Ethics in Practice in ‘The Ethical Attitude in Analytic Practice’, Solomon and Twyman, Free Association 2003
- Chapters on ‘Ethics and Training’ and ‘Ethics and Supervision’ are awaiting publication.
- ’Held in Mind’ or ‘Hell in Mind’: Group Therapy in Poland” with Dale Mathers and Amélie Noack, JAP 2006 Vol. 51 pp191-207

I work as a Jungian psychotherapist and analyst, and my private practice is situated in central Hereford. Since 2005 I have been a member of the Association of Jungian Analysts, registered with UKCP and IAAP. Before training to become a Jungian analyst, I worked in education, lecturing in art history in further and higher education. I have also worked in community arts provision in local government.
In the context of my work in analytical psychology, I have a particular interest in imagination and creativity, as it appears in mythology, folk tales, art and dreams, believing that such imaginative motifs and ideas can help to bring about psychotherapeutic change, and lead towards inner psychological and/or spiritual transformation.
In recent years I have developed my educational work through a range of Jungian seminars, offering opportunities for exploring Jungian ideas. I coordinate the Jungian Seminars at Quay House in Hereford. I currently serve on the Council and the Training Committee of the Association of Jungian Analysts. I am a member of the Confederation for Analytical Psychology, and of Hereford Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Group.
