Jungian Seminars in Hereford
A programme of occasional meetings called The Jungian Seminars was started in 1998 in Hereford for those interested in the ideas of Carl Gustav Jung. The seminars, organised by a convening group of Jungian analysts, take place in Quay House, Quay Street, Hereford and are open to anyone interested in learning about Jungian ideas, and developing an understanding of analytical psychology.
A Jungian seminar comprises a talk by an invited speaker, followed by a discussion, and contributions from those attending are encouraged and welcome.
Sometimes there are themed workshops, where those attending can take a more active part. The aim is to give participants the opportunity to explore imaginatively and to reflect together upon the workshop theme.
The Jungian Seminars are of interest to those working in the caring professions, to those involved in artistic or creative work, or in religious or spiritual exploration.
Seminars normally take place on selected Friday evenings, and workshops on Saturdays. It is essential to reserve and to pay your place in advance, because numbers are limited. A leaflet with details of the forthcoming Jungian seminar or workshop is available om request.

‘Opening The Hidden Door’
A Jungian Workshop on Understanding Dreams
with
Matthew Harwood
‘The dream is a little hidden door
in the innermost and most secret recesses of the soul.’ (C.G.Jung)
The workshop teaches the fundamental skills required to understand the meaning of dreams, and it is open to all. It is suitable both for psychotherapists, counsellors and trainees who wish to improve their skills in working with clients’ dreams, and also for members of the public who wish to learn how to understand their own dreams and those of their friends. The methods taught in this workshop do not require any particular background or orientation. Utilising a highly structured approach, and working on practice material supplied, the topics to be covered will include: learning how to frame one’s questions to achieve the best results, the implications of Jung’s theory of compensation, and differentiating between subjective and objective levels of interpretation. No previous experience is required.
Matthew Harwood is a Jungian analyst in private practice in the Bath and Bristol area. He is a Senior Training Analyst within the Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists. He trained in Analytical Psychology at the CGJung Institute in Zürich, Switzerland. For several years he was IGAP’s Chair of Ethics, and he has lectured widely both in England and overseas.
